Tara Solorzano serves as a Fellow at L3Harris – a prestigious title reserved for the company’s most innovative minds, problem-solvers and experts in engineering and science.
In this role, Solorzano is responsible for driving innovation and technology integration across L3Harris to deliver transformational capabilities which address customer needs.
Currently, her primary focus is supporting the company’s Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) business area, which is part of the Radio Frequency (RF) Systems division within L3Harris’ Space and Airborne Systems segment.
As the strategy lead for L3Harris’ PNT business, Solorzano works closely with customers and stakeholders to understand their objectives and challenges. Then she translates those inputs into roadmaps that drive technology development plans across the company.
Since joining L3Harris in 2001, Solorzano has been a key contributor to programs across all segments of the space-based PNT enterprise. This includes leading engineering efforts to critical milestones as well as capture for major proposals.
She started her career with L3Harris as systems engineer and has served in diverse roles of increasing responsibility across GPS programs.
Solorzano was the chief engineer of the Operational Control System (OCX) program for many years – helping dramatically increase the performance and effectiveness of the entire GPS system. She then transitioned to leading internal research and development.
Solorzano was also the chief engineer for the GPSIIIF proposal and the capture lead for NTS-3 – one of the first three U.S. Air Force Vanguard programs. She led the NTS-3 program team through critical design review (CDR).
Solorzano graduated magna cum laude from the Albert Dorman Honors College at the New Jersey Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s of science in computer engineering. She also earned a master’s in electrical engineering from Steven’s Institute of Technology.
Solorzano is the recipient of numerous industry and corporate recognitions.
