Dr. Dennis Akos
Professor
University of Colorado at Boulder
Professor Dennis M. Akos completed the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering at Ohio University in the Avionics Engineering Center in 1997 with a focus on GPS/GNSS radio design and signal processing. He implemented the first “software radio” for GPS/GNSS. In addition to academic roles at Luleå University of Technology (Sweden) and Stanford University, he was a founder of Nordnav Technologies (acquired by CSR in 2008, acquired by Qualcomm in 2014) whose technology innovations help the adoption of GPS/GNSS into the mobile phone platform. His research interests include: GPS/GNSS, Software Defined Radio (SDR), applied/digital signal processing, and Radio Frequency (RF) design. Since 2005 he has been on the faculty with the Aerospace Engineering Science Department at University of Colorado at Boulder.
